smaller (lower to ground) pickup trucks are so much more attractive imo

I agree. How often do you REALLY need five million tonnes of payload? I doubt that most people have to haul around a bed-full of rocks and cement-bags. But for just plopping in a lawnmower, a few bikes, maybe some leaves and lumber - these small trucks are perfect.
+ the low sides allow much easier access to the bed. I was astonished to see how tall US trucks actually are. You can’t get to it unless you open the tailgate.
But I mean it’s pointless to argue rationally about this - most people just buy what they want/like and you can’t change that.
So yes, I like the look of these more, too lol

I wish trucks like this still existed. The closest I've seen is old minivans that have been hacked into a truck shape. Hardly the same thing.

They’ve brought back the blazer and bronco and supra. Maybe they will bring back the small tacoma and ranger.
I look at some of the new pickup trucks and think to myself... by when my dad drove a dump truck in USSR for a living, THAT was smaller than current civilian version of pickup.

Yeah, the current "small" trucks are quite large really, nowhere near the ones we had just a few short years ago..
